I offer 30, 45 and 60 minute lessons to kids as young as 5 through to adults (no age limit).

I strive to provide an environment in which my students can grow, learn, explore and have fun. My lessons encompass a wide range of activities to develop all the skills required to become a well-rounded musician such as improvisation, sight-reading, composition and theory.

What to expect?

At my studio, we learn new concepts while having fun. We play relevant games and do activities with and without the instrument, compose new pieces, improvise, sing, tap, clap, etc. The whole idea is to get you to really grasp concepts so that you become a well-rounded musician.

Alongside method books and sheet music, we practise rhythm and scales with educational apps, listen to recordings on Youtube and make recordings of your pieces and compositions.

An end-of-year concert will be organised for students to play their pieces in front of one another in a relaxed atmosphere. Students will be encouraged to play solo, with other students, or with me.

I also encourage students to participate in Eisteddfods and other musical events.

I prepare students for exams (AMEB, Trinity or other). However, I believe exams should not be used as a curriculum where you only ever learn 3-5 pieces a year and a few scales, moving up to the next grade year after year. I like to emphasize the journey over the destination. I am a strong believer in developing musicianship in students before they undertake any sort of exams. I want my students to be exposed to lots of different kinds of music, understand music theory, develop a good technique, gain experience as a performer and playing with others, create, improvise and develop aural skills.
